About

I grew up just outside of Johnstown, PA. I attended Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, graduating cum laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry in May of 1998. I did research as an undergraduate both at Juniata and at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. I defended my Ph.D. at the University of Virginia in October of 2007.

I’m proud to be a geek– I’ve switched to GNU/Linux, I’m a fair coder (Python, Perl, PHP, and Javascript) and I have many years of experience administrating Linux and Windows systems in the lab and at home. I am a member of Wesley Memorial U.M.C. next door.

I currently live in Charlottesville, VA.
